Wynona Redmond is Public Affairs Director for Dominick’s Finer Foods, an Oakbrook, Illinois-based chain of supermarkets owned and operated by Safeway, Inc. She oversees the operations of the Public Affairs Offi ce including Public Relations, Local and State Government Relations, Community Relations, Special Events and Corporate Giving. Wynona also serves on the Safeway Corporate Diversity Advisory Board and as an offi cer of the Dominick’s Foundation.

 

Wynona’s favorite quote is from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “I have the audacity to believe that people everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality, and justice for their spirits.” Wynona is excited that her position at Dominick’s allows her to live out this vision.

 

At Dominick’s Wynona has strengthened the organization’s connection to the community through ongoing involvement and special events including the Dominick’s Annual Ministers’ Breakfast. Some of the projects and partnerships that Wynona is actively engaged in include food drives with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, fundraising for various causes including Easter Seals, MDA, Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer.

 

Wynona is an accomplished public relations professional with a talent for translating the mission and vision of organizations into tangible programs and communication vehicles. Prior to Dominick’s Wynona served in a public affairs management capacity for several government agencies including the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services, the Chicago Housing Authority and Cook County Hospital.

 

Wynona is actively involved in the North Lawndale community on the West Side of Chicago where she grew up. She is a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church and a supervisor of the Lawndale Civic and Educational Jr. Girls and Boys Club (both in North Lawndale). She serves on the board of the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Clear Channel Community Advisory Committee. Wynona prides herself on being a leader and mentor in her fi eld of public relations. She is the president of the National Black Public Relations Society and an advisor to the board of the Black Public Relations Society of Chicago.

 

Wynona is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago with a B.A. in Communications. She is a resident of Oak Park, Illinois.
