From pennies to planned gifts describes my personal philanthropic path. The habit of sharing my personal resources was instilled early on in my family, and raising money and managing charitable gifts has been part of my various careers. I have been a university teacher and administrator and done fundraising and organizational development for land conservation, business ethics, elderly care and secondary education organizations. Currently I am on the board of directors and on the development committee of the Young Women’s Leadership Charter School which inspires urban girls to engage in rigorous college preparatory learning in a small, single-sex school that is focused on math, science and technology, and that nurtures their self-confi dence and challenges them to achieve.
