Margaret Garner

In 1999, Margaret Garner developed Broadway Consolidated Companies, Inc. with a commitment to go a giant step beyond merely building structures. She pledged to focus on human capital development by partnering with her clients and the impacted communities. Her passion is not just to build buildings, but to build a better quality of life for the people affected by her work. Margaret’s dedication to improving lives wherever she goes has always guided her career path – from top management jobs implementing innovative programs in public housing, to building a multi-
million dollar full service construction fi rm with offices located on Chicago’s near Westside.

Margaret’s philosophy of improving lives in the communities she serves is evident in all her work. Instead of merely contracting with the University of Chicago to participate in the building of Comer Children’s Hospital, Margaret lived up to her philosophy of more than bricks and mortar” by partnering with the University and community to provide jobs.

Broadway Consolidated Companies, Inc. was also successful in participating in the U.S. Small Business Match Making Initiative whereby her company was awarded a fi ve year contract with the Department of the Navy. More recently BCCI was selected as the fi rst African American Woman owned Construction Company to build Chicago’s fi rst Wal-Mart store and the first inner city Wal-Mart store in the country.

Margaret holds degrees in Business and Economics obtained at the University of Pittsburgh. She is affi liated with many professional and faith-based organizations. In 2004, she became the President of the Federation of Women Contractors and holds many awards and honors. She is the proud mother of Margarite.
